The handle concept shows the design workflow of how a product is taken from concept to an actionable product designed for mass production.

Starting with a 2D conceptual sketching phase the form is refined and developed. When the conceptual sketching is complete, the designer develops it into a 3D CAD model.

Often at this stage the concept is tweaked and adjusted to further develop the model, making sure that the pieces are realistic in terms of human factors and in manufacturing. The product is broken down to its individual parts and developed further. Along this development path the designer must ensure that the piece can be manufactured efficiently as possible. Considering boss and rib details in relation to the materials and processes that will be utilised in the manufacturing of the product. The part is checked for appropriate draft angles ensure even demoulding before the product goes to tooling.
